Helpful Hints Illustrations can be created for commercial or personal use. Illustrations for commercial use are usaully commissioned by publishers of books, magazines, and newspapers, and are also used in digital form on web sites. Illustrations for personal use might personalize stationary, T-shirts, scrap books, or sometimes is a commissioned artwork. Graphic design and desktop publishing is most often used for corporate image design, which typically consists of a logo design, business cards, letterhead and envelope design. Optionally, it may include redesign of business marketing materials, signage, web site(s), or other materials which portray the company's image. Logos and other corporate image elements can be provided on disk for Mac or PC. To help yourself decide on your web site design, visit as many sites as you can. Make notes about what you like and dislike about each site. Then, put together a 'shopping list' of features, enhancements, backgrounds, colors and graphics that you want on your web site. Web site & multimedia design can be widely varied in scope, and can involve repurposing existing print materials, or creating a complete, original interface and structure from scratch.
